The aircraft you will be riding in is a beautifully restored 1926 Travelair biplane which seats two adult passengers plus the pilot. It is one of the rarest and best examples of the Golden Age of Aviation and is the aircraft that Captain Bob is most proud of in his collection.
The Travel Air Manufacturing Company was formed in 1925 by three young, soon-to-be aviation icons: Clyde Cessna, Walter Beech and Lloyd Stearman. It was a premier passenger aircraft and was well respected for it’s rugged dependability. Please allow Captain Bob to share with you the pure joy of open cockpit flying at its finest. It’s an experience you will never forget!
Flying the one and only 1926 Travel Air, dashing “Diamond Bob” Berwick began his love affair with airplanes in high school; hanging out at airports and doing odd jobs for flight time. 50 years later, Bob has more hours and type ratings than he can recall, having flown everything from DC3‘s to 767‘s. Combining his passion for air and water Bob is owner of Coastal Air Tours, giving flights over San Francisco Bay. Due in part to his calm, quiet demeanor blended with a smooth seductive baritone, Diamond Bob is known far and wide as the California Captain who captivates his passengers with his tales of adventure and unsurpassed flying skill.
